Arrival to Catania Airport. Transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and departure to discover the seaside towns of the “Riviera dei Ciclopi”. In Aci Castello the landscape is dominated by the Norman Castle, built in lava stone, overhanging the sea. Proceed to Aci Trezza: along the nice seafront you will be charmed by the suggestive panorama offered by the Lachea Island and the Faraglioni, ancient lava rocks that, according to Homer’s myth, were thrown to Ulysses by Polyphemus (“The Odyssey“). This nice fishing village is also known for being the location that Giovanni Verga chose for his novel “I Malavoglia“. In the end Acireale, with its splendid Baroque historical centre and its belvedere. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon, walking tour in Catania’s historical centre: the Teatro Massimo Opera House, the Duomo Square with its Cathedral and the Elephant (symbol of the city) made of lava stone and the Baroque Via Crociferi. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel. Visit the Benedictine Monastery of St Nicola l’Arena, a gem of Sicilian baroque style, which is a Unesco Heritage site. You will assist to a presentation of typical Sicilian pastries, learning their history and traditions. You will also participate actively to their making-of and tasting, accompanied by exquisite wines and soft drinks. We will then stop in a bar in the historical centre to taste the famous “arancini”. In the afternoon, depart to Taormina to visit “the pearl of the Ionic Sea”. During the walking tour you will have the chance to visit the Ancient Greek Theatre, the Duomo, the Belvedere and also to go shopping among the typical small streets of this nice town. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to Piazza Armerina, to visit the “Villa Romana del Casale”. It was recently declared Unesco World Heritage site, thanks to its marvelous mosaics, considered the most beautiful and best-preserved of their kind, inspired to mythology and to Roman aristocracy’s quotidian life. Lunch at restaurant or in a farm-house. We will then proceed to Agrigento. Among the rests of the ancient Akragas, dipped in a splendid naturalistic background with almond trees and centenary olive trees, we will visit one of the main archaeological sites in the Mediterranean: the Valley of the Temples. The site includes ten well-preserved Doric temples such as the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Heracles and the Temple of Concordia. Accommodation at hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at hotel and depart to Ragusa. The visit will start with Donnafugata Castle and its gardens, also known for being recently used as location for the Italian TV Series “The Inspector Montalbano”. Lunch at restaurant or in a farm-house. We will then visit the other locations of the TV Series: Scicli (better known as “Vigata”) and Puntasecca, tiny and charming sea-town. You will have eventually the chance to see from the outside the Inspector’s house. Accommodation at hotel in Ragusa area, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to Modica, part of UNESCO Heritage Sites, for a pleasant walking tour in the charming historical centre rich of chapels, churches, monasteries and Baroque palaces. During the walking tour we will stop in a local pastry-shop to taste the famous chocolate deriving from an ancient Aztec recipe. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit Ragusa, one of the most beautiful places in Eastern Sicily. The enchanting historical centre, Ibla, is a perfect example of Sicilian Baroque. You will be charmed by its small streets, gardens and the suggestive Duomo square, with its Baroque church of Saint George. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we will depart to Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque: along the main street we will admire a plenty of Baroque examples, such as Porta Reale, Palazzo Ducezio, the Duomo and Palazzo Nicolaci. Lunch at restaurant or in a farm-house. The afternoon will be dedicated to Siracusa. The visit will start with the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, famous for its Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Ear of Dionysius and the Latomies of Paradise (guided walking tour). Then we will make a nice walking tour in Ortygia Island, the ancient historical centre, where we will see the splendid Cathedral (built on the rests of a Greek Temple dedicated to Athena), the Temple of Apollo and the Fountain of Arethusa with its papyrus plants. Accommodation at hotel in Catania area, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and rest of the morning at leisure. Lunch at hotel and transfer to Catania Airport. End of all services.
