Arrival to Palermo and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at hotel, visit the Capital of Sicily, one of the richest towns in the island for history and art. During the guided walking tour in the historical centre we will admire the Cathedral, the Vucciria (the market), the Palazzo dei Normanni with its “Palatina” Chapel, the “Quattro Canti” and the Pretoria Square, adorned with statues. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will continue to Monreale to admire the Norman Cathedral with its splendid 12th century mosaics and the cloister of the Benedictines monastery with Moorish architecture. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to Cefalù, charming medieval town on the Northern coast. With its tiny typical streets, the Ancient Roman Bath, the Mandralisca Museum and the wonderful Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Sicilian churches of Norman period, Cefalù is today one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Lunch on your own. Proceed to Catania to visit the historical centre, characterized by the black lava stone from Etna. We will see the Teatro Massimo Opera House, the Duomo Square with its Cathedral and the Elephant (symbol of the city), Piazza Università and the Baroque Via Crociferi. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at hotel in Catania area.

Breakfast at hotel. Depart to Siracusa to visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, famous for its Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Ear of Dionysius and the Latomies of Paradise (guided walking tour). Then we will make a nice walking tour in Ortygia Island, the ancient historical centre, where we will see the splendid Cathedral (built on the rests of a Greek Temple dedicated to Athena), the Temple of Apollo and the Fountain of Arethusa with its papyrus plants. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will proceed to Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque: along the main street we will admire a plenty of Baroque examples, such as Porta Reale, Palazzo Ducezio, the Duomo and Palazzo Nicolaci. Back to the hotel in Catania, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to the South side of Mount Etna, to visit the “Silvestri Craters” and the recent lava flows of 2001/2002. You will be charmed by the suggestive view of the Gulf of Catania and the landscape rich of inactive craters. Free time for lunch. The afternoon will be dedicated to “the pearl of the Ionic Sea”: Taormina. During the walking tour you will have the chance to visit the Ancient Greek Theatre, the Duomo, the Belvedere and also to go shopping among the typical small streets of this nice town. Back to the hotel in Catania area, dinner and overnight.

Depart to Piazza Armerina to visit the worldwide known Villa Romana del Casale and admire its well preserved mosaics which represent the richest, largest and most complex collection of late Roman mosaics in the world. Free time for lunch. Proceed to Agrigento, where we will visit the Valley of the Temples. The site includes ten well-preserved Doric temples such as the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Heracles and the Temple of Concordia, representing the most beautiful example of the Greek Civilization in Sicily. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at hotel in Agrigento area.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to visit the Archaeological park of Selinunte, the largest in the Mediterranean area with its impressive Temples and Acropolis. We will then enjoy a nice panoramic tour of Marsala’s salt pans and windmills. Free time for lunch. We will drive then to the medieval town of Erice, set on the top of Mount Erice, offering a charming panorama of Aegadian Islands and the coast of Trapani. During the walking tour among the small streets of the town, we will visit the Duomo with its Campanile (bell tower) and admire the suggestive 12th century Norman Castle. Accommodation at hotel in Palermo area and overnight.
