Full Itinerary

Arrival to Catania Airport and transfer to your hotel. If arrival is scheduled in the morning it is possible to arrange a guided visit of Catania. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Breakfast at your hotel. Crossing suggestive landscapes, rich of different kinds of vegetation, we will reach the height of 2.000 meters to explore the highest active volcano in Europe: Mount Etna. Surrounded by ancient craters, you will admire a suggestive panorama of the Ionic Coast. We will visit the “Silvestri Craters” and the recent lava flows of 2001/2002. We will then visit a renowned cellar, where we will enjoy a light lunch and wine tasting. In the afternoon you will be charmed by the “Pearl of the Ionic Sea”, Taormina, with its typical small streets, the Ancient Greek Theatre, the Cathedral and the Belvedere. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to Noto. You will take part to a “bread-making class”. You will also have the chance to participate actively to the making of the famous “scacce”, a typical local dish. We will then visit the Villa Romana del Tellaro, famous for its splendid mosaics. We will then enjoy a tasting of seasoned bread. In the afternoon we will proceed to Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque, for a short walking tour in the historical centre. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at hotel in Ragusa area.

Depart to Chiaramonte Gulfi and visit of an olive-mill to learn the process of oil production. You will also have the chance to taste extra virgin olive oil and other local products. Proceed to Modica, part of UNESCO Heritage Sites, for a pleasant walking tour in the charming historical centre rich of chapels, churches, monasteries and Baroque palaces. We will also stop in a renowned local laboratory to taste the famous chocolate, deriving from an ancient Aztec recipe and to learn how it is produced. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit Ragusa with a walking tourin its enchanting historical centre “Ibla”, rich of Baroque palaces and churches. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at hotel and depart to Piazza Armerina to visit the Villa Romana del Casale, recently declared Unesco World Heritage site, thanks to its marvelous mosaics, considered the most beautiful and best-preserved of their kind, inspired to mythology and to Roman aristocracy’s quotidian life. Lunch at restaurant or in a farm-house. We will then proceed to Agrigento, to visit one of the main archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, dipped in a splendid naturalistic background with almond trees and centenary olive trees: the Valley of the Temples. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at hotel in Agrigento area.

Breakfast at your hotel and depart to Selinunte to visit the largest Archaeological Park in the Mediterranean, with its impressive Temples and Acropolis. We will then proceed on the North, enjoying a nice panoramic tour of the salt pans and windmills. Stop in a renowned winery for wine tasting and light lunch with specialties of the Mediterranean cuisine. In the afternoon, visit of the medieval town of Erice, set on the top of Mount Erice, offering a charming panorama of Aegadian Islands and the coast of Trapani. A stop in one of the most famous pastry shops, to taste the typical marzipan candies and other local delicacies like almond and pistachio pastries, can’t be missed. Proceed to Palermo, accommodation, dinner and overnight at hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, we will start a fantastic walking tour, to discover the typical street food of the city of Palermo: sfincione, panelle, arancine, pane con la milza etc.. Starting from Piazza Verdi, through the markets and the quartiers of the historical centre (Mercato del Capo, Vucciria and Piazza San Domenico, ending at the Cathedral), you will enjoy a unique experience, learning the legends, popular stories and secrets about every meal. The tour will end with a light lunch, including tasting of Sicilian cannolo or cassata. In the afternoon we will visit the Norman Cathedral of Monreale, with its splendid 12th century mosaics and the cloister of the Benedictines monastery with Moorish architecture. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
